Finland: Kurkkusalaatti (Cucumber Salad)

1  10-12inch cucumber, very thinly sliced
2 tbsp dried dill weed
1/2 cup white vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1 tsp salt

Layer cucumber slices and dill in a medium bowl. Mix together remaining ingredients; pour over cucumber. Cover and chill for 4-5 hours.

The above was, of course, how the recipe should have been. From the picture, however, you can deduce that I clearly didn't prepare the salad that way. I call my version the "Oh-no-I-forgot-to-prepare-the-salad" version. I just quartered the cucumber lengthwise and sprinkled it with dill, sugar, salt, and vinegar.
