Bermuda Burger

What can I say? This was a delicious burger. The mix of minced green pepper and onion in the meat make the patties light and juicy, and the lettuce and cucumber give it a nice crunch. You can of course make it into a cheese and/or bacon burger, but I didn't think it needs those additions.

for the patties:
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, minced
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1-2 tsp fresh snipped chives
2/3 green bell pepper, minced
1-2 dashes crushed red pepper
1 tsp Worcestersauce
1 tsp ketchup
1 egg, beaten with 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
salt and pepper to taste

for assembly:
1 tbsp oil for frying
4 Kaiser rolls, split and lightly toasted
onion rings
cucumber slices
tomato slices
lettuce leaves

Mix together all ingredients for the patties. Form 4-6 patties. Heat oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat (or make burgers on your sandwich grill - like I did). Add patties in batches and cook until done, about 3-4 minutes per side. To assemble burgers, spread some mayonnaise on the bottom half of the roll. Top with veggies, ketchup, patty, mustard, and top half of roll. Enjoy!


  1. I love adding chopped veggies into burger patties, although I've only done it with turkey and chicken in the past. I can't wait to try it with beef, now!
